Spring is (almost) in the air!
No matter what Mr. Groundhog says, Spring will be here, eventually. That means it will be time to rev up those walking shoes and stretch out that golf swing! Get the fishing pole out of the shed, and buy some new sunblock and bug spray. We’ve found some exciting springtime outdoor activities already being planned in Ocean County at our local parks and places of recreation!
Check your calendar!
Spring arrives this year on Monday, March 20th. Not long after that the Ocean County Parks will be bustling with locals shaking off the rust from a long Winter spent over eating and drinking, and most likely not being as active, regardless of our New Year’s resolutions. The Ocean County Parks Department has a full list of fun and exciting events and activities going on all year long at their website https://www.oceancountyparks.org/frmSpecialEvents .
Bring the kids!
Moreover, many of the fun events happening at Ocean County Parks are geared for the whole family. Kid friendly events this spring include a nature festival, a fishing tournament, a doggie adoption festival, and kid’s flea market.
There are tons of parks to explore!
Indeed! Did you know that Ocean County boasts 27 parks and conservation area? Yup! Plus, according to the parks department website, with over 4000 acres of preserved and well maintained land you can enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, canoeing, fishing, ball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds and so much more. With parks from Point Pleasant Beach to Tuckerton you’re sure to find an adventure near you.
Get involved!
The parks department website also has a section where you can download and printout forms ranging for volunteering, to flea market vender applications, special use permits, and pavilion and picnic area rentals.
