The brand new Star Wars live-action series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, has just finished (the season finale was this past Wednesday) and our review is in…..and it’s a hit!
Kenobi is one of the greatest Star Wars stories that’s been told since 1983’s Return Of The Jedi. The series was an amazing bridge between the Original Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy while also creating a meaningful and powerful unique story of its own.
Ewan McGregor returns as Obi-Wan and he is absolutely spectacular. He has regrets and is in pain…but there’s hope and adventure inside him as well. In the end, he’s an uplifting character.
Meanwhile, Hayden Christensen is also back as Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker…and Christensen is amazing. The Vader that we witness in this series is a killing machine. Evil and sinister to the core. It’s the best Darth Vader that we’ve gotten since 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back.
Director Deborah Chow does a truly wonderful job…making the series feel both epic and intimate. It has huge, astonishing scenes of action…and small scenes with real emotion.
Also classic characters such as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, Bail Organa, and a surprisingly powerful little Princess Leia add to the depth of the series.
Kenobi also features captivating new characters as well like the villainous Inquisitors…or the spirited Rebel sympathizers like Tarla, Haja and Roken.
The series masterfully blends the Obi-Wan from Revenge Of The Sith with the Obi-Wan of A New Hope to highly successful results. And the usage of Darth Vader is simply incredible…in fact…it’s some of the best stuff we’ve ever seen in Star Wars.
Overall, I highly recommend this excellent show. You can watch Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney Plus! May the Force be with you!
