Greetings, fans of the Sports! It’s your man Davey Mac here and we’ve got a fun Sports Report for ya where…of all teams…the New York Knicks take the top billing! But first!
Have you seen any of these new rules changes in Major League Baseball? With Spring Training now underway…we’re seeing the rules in action and…I gotta tell ya…I’m liking what I’m seeing!
For starters…there is a clock now on both the pitcher for throwing the ball to home…as well as a running clock on hitter’s stepping outside of the batter’s box. And guess what? The pace of the game is a lot quicker this way!
Also…pitchers are only allowed to attempt a pickoff throw twice without repercussions…if the pitchers throw over a third time…they MUST get the runner out or the runner is awarded the next base! So if you’re one of those fans that boos pitchers who throw over to first twelve times an at-bat…well, fear no more…those days are gone!
Furthermore…there is no longer any shift allowed. As a result…contact is up…resulting in less strike outs…and more action in the game. All in all…the new rules have cut down on time by almost 25 minutes! Last year…regular season games clocked in on average at 3 hours and 3 minutes. The games in Spring Training have averaged a time of 2 hours and 39 minutes! A huge difference!
Bottom lines is these rules are working…now they just have to go with the robo-umps and the K-Zone to call balls and strikes so that Aaron Judge doesn’t get 150 low pitches called strikes and we’ll be perfect! I’m Davey Mac! That’s my sports two cents!
