Davey Mac here with another Sports Report and, today, we’ve got to start with some somber news.

Legendary boxing referee Mills Lane died yesterday.  He was 85.

Lane worked many famous and sometimes infamous boxing matches…including the infamous match where Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield’s ear off.    He also worked his fair share of championship matches as well.

Lane was also the main referee in MTV’s claymation boxing series, Celebrity Death Match.   And, Mills had his own court show called Judge Mills Lane.   In other words, Lane achieved transcendent pop culture success that few sports refs achieve.

In other words, Mills lane was a true original.   With the diminutive stature and bald head and one-of-a-kind voice, he may be the most famous referee in Sports history.   I mean…think about it…how many REALLY famous refs or umpires or officials are even out there?   Mills Lane is THE man when it comes to reffing!   I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents!

The New York Yankees have re-signed Aaron Judge to a nine-year contract worth $360 million.   Meaning Aaron Judge will probably retire in pinstripes and that’s awesome.   Not only has this guy hit 62 home runs and won the MVP…let’s not forget the 52 homers in his first full season and winning Rookie Of The Year.   Plus, the All Star games and the Judge’s Chambers section in Yankee Stadium…I mean they LITERALLY have a part of the Stadium dedicated to Judge…so they HAD to do this.   But, give Hal Steinbrenner some credit for opening up the wallet for Judge.   Now let’s get pitcher Carlos Rodon and get really nuts!
