Good morning, Sports fans! It’s your friend Davey Mac here and I’m not trying to pile on here…but what the hell happened to the Mets?!
If you don’t know…the Mets lost their Wild Card round series to the Padres by getting shut out by San Diego last night…six to nothing.
Juan Soto and Manny Machado each had a couple of big hits in the Padre clinching game.

The Mets were thoroughly dominated by San Diego starter Joe Musgrove. The Padres pitching, in fact, only allowed one hit in the entire game.
Met manager Buck Showalter even asked the umpires to check Musgrove’s ears for a foreign substance.

But the umpires found nothing. Musgrove’s ears were dry.
The guy was just totally dominant…as he completely shut the Mets offense down.

The question is…what happened?
The Mets got off to such a sensational start…then they hit a rough patch (as all teams do throughout the course of a season)…but they rebounded and got hot again.
Was it the Braves series in which, late in the year, Atlanta swept the Mets to overtake them in the division? This caused the Mets to have to play in the Wild Card round rather than earning them a bye straight to the Divisional Series round.
But, generally asking, why do the Mets seem to choke more than most teams? Why do they get into first place every year…and then squander that lead…and end their season in disappointment?
Is Citi Field cursed? I don’t know! But this offseason…the Mets should sign Heimlich to prevent future choke-jobs! I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents!
