...A controversial call has ruined what looked to be a thrilling, buzzer-beating victory by Manasquan High School over Camden High School. 'Squan was down by one point (46 to 45) to Camden with seconds to go in the state semifinals...but Manasquan was able to hit a shot with .6 seconds clearly on the clock. The made basket would have given Manasquan the win. But, for some reason, the refs huddled up after the shot and ruled that it was after the buzzer...meaning Camden had just won the game and their state semifinal matchup.
Manasquan head coach Andrew Bilodeau was deservedly frustrated and said after the game: “They reversed the call. The referee in the C position in the middle signaled ‘basket’s good,’ they huddled up and then 15 kids got screwed in front of 1,000 people. Print that. Print it five times."
Man...from the all of the footage I've seen...both videos and still picture...it is clear that Manasquan's shot was good. That's a really bad call...and terrible decision to call off the basket. Game-winning shots are classic moments in time for a sports team and Manasquan was just robbed of an all-time memory. What a shame. I'm Davey Mac...now on to the rest of the Sports Report!
