Good morning, Sports fans and athletics aficionados!   It’s your pal Davey Mac back with another action-packed Sports Report!   But first…breaking news on the Aaron Judge front!

Yankee owner Hal Steinbrenner spoke with the media about the superstar outfielder and said he’d “consider” making Judge the team captain if Judge re-signs with the Yanks.

Um…”consider”?   What kind of weak-sauce statement is THAT??   Hal needs to say “Yes, Aaron Judge will absolutely be the next Captain of the New York Yankees…continuing the legendary legacy that was set before him by the likes of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Derek Jeter, and more.   We are pleased and excited that Mr. Judge will be returning to the team in this leadership role as we strive intensely for a World Series Championship in 2023.”

THAT’S a statement, Hal!!   THAT’S what you need to be saying, pal!   Just look at your old man!   George Steinbrenner would be all over this!   No Yankee fan would be in dread of Judge leaving the team!   But here we are!   Hal, look into your “Inner George” and find some fire!

If Hal Steinbrenner, GM Brian Cashman, and the Yankees screw this up and fail to re-sign Aaron Judge…it will be a COLOSSAL failure on the part of the organization.   And weak language like “consider making him captain” does NOT help matters at all.   Yankee Universe is watching…let’s see if Hal can close the deal like his father could.   I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents.
