Game Of Thrones Is BACK: A RAT Review!

The Game Of Thrones universe is back and, I gotta tell you, it feels damn good!   Hey, guys...Davey Mac of the Morning Rat Race here.   House Of The Dragon premiered on HBO last night and the first episode was really good and I'm experiencing old school G.O.T. Monday morning buzz because of it!   So check out this review followed by some great clips of this new series!

House Of The Dragon is set 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen and focuses on the House Targaryen as there is a need to have a successor named to King Viserys.   This causes some instability in the house and looks to set up a good deal of conflict among the family members.   In a nutshell, the episode is about the Targaryens and various individuals' quest for power.

Episode one of House Of The Dragon has all of the Game Of Thrones staples: action, murder, suspense, betrayal, sex, and twists.   And it was only one episode!   But that's not all!

I didn't realize how much I missed the G.O.T. world until I saw brand new Westoros content in front of my eyes.   And it was brilliant as always.   The visuals are amazing.   Epic locations and sets.

The action is intense, brutal, and captivating.   We see a particularly violent knight tournament, a barbaric beating of thieves by the Westeros police force, and an impressive display of power by the dragons.

We also receive interesting new characters who very quickly make their mark on the show.   The King's brother, daughter, wife, and council all make for intriguing people to watch.

And the visuals are simply stunning.   Incredible, wide-angled shots of the beautiful kingdom are scattered throughout to positive effect.

All in all, the series is off to a flying start!   In all honesty, when I first heard that HBO was doing a Game Of Thrones prequel a couple of years ago...I wasn't very excited.   Though I loved G.O.T., I think Star Wars and Marvel and Stranger Things and other shows and movies have taken a lot of my attention.

But, man, was it good to have this world back.   It felt instantly familiar and yet totally new all at the same time.   With great characters and an interesting start to the series...I think House Of The Dragon is gonna be winner!   I'm so looking forward to the rest of the season now!   I'm Davey Mac and this had been a Rat Review!   Scroll down for clips from the series!
