Disney Plus just debuted their latest live-action, Star Wars series.   And our review is finally in!

Andor, the latest story about the Saga, had a three-episode premiere on Wednesday, and I must tell you, this is a Star Wars show unlike any other we’ve seen before.

This may, in fact, be the first SW series that is squarely aimed at adults.   Don’t worry…Yoda isn’t dancing on a stripper pole or anything.   Nor will you see Darth Vader and the Emperor re-enacting the Gimp scene from Pulp Fiction.  It’s not like Andor is inappropriate or anything.

But, this show is definitely designed for grown-ups.   Between the pacing, the mysterious vibe, the more nuanced characters, and overall complex and suspenseful feel of the show…an older demographic will probably enjoy Andor more than kids.

Those are some of the subtle reasons why the series feels more mature.   But, they also do things that previous Star Wars projects would never think of doing onscreen.   The show starts out in a brothel, for starters.   Not a typical location for Jedi and Sith!

Then, there’s the first curse word in Star Wars history as a character in the third episode says the word “sh*t.”   Again, it’s not like I’m a Puritan or anything…far from it.   But it was surprising hearing a proper cuss in the Saga!

As far as what the show is really about…we are seeing the real beginnings of the Rebel Alliance through the eyes of a foot soldier and assassin (who is Cassian Andor).   It’s a captivating character study on a man who has many shades of gray.   He’s a good guy…or is he?

If you’ve seen Rogue One, you know about Cassian and his destiny.   But this show is still successful because on this part of Cassian’s timeline, we really don’t know much about him…which causes a cool, mysterious vibe to be present on the show.   It’s pretty awesome.
