“East Side” Dave McDonald here and I’m bringing the Sports! We’ve got some good Sports news and some bad Sports news and I’m here to give you as much as I can stomach!
I’ve been a Yankees fan my entire life…and even though we had to put up with TERRIBLE Yankee baseball at times in the late ’80’s and early ’90’s…I must tell you…this current stretch for the Bronx Bombers has been among the most disappointing runs I’ve ever seen!
In 17 years of covering Sports in the media, I’ve never seen ineptitude from an organization’s front office like we’re witnessing with Yankee General Manager Brian Cashman!
What is Cashman doing?! I mean seriously! What the hell is this man trying to do with this team?! In very recent years, Cashman has had a shot at Bryce Harper, Max Scherzer, Juan Soto, and other superstars…and he’s gotten NONE of them!
As we were heading into the All Star break this year…it was rather apparent that the Yankees needed HITTING. I myself was on the radio screaming like a maniac and nearly dying from heart attack after watching these pathetic offensive Yankee performances.
And listen…while I can be a demanding Yankees fan…I’m no spoiled brat. My parents had season tickets from 1983 to 2008 and I’ve literally seen hundreds of Yankee games at Yankee Stadium and thousands of games on TV. I’ve seen good baseball and awful baseball.
And while I can’t call the Yankees terrible…I can say that they are highly disappointing right now and look so lethargic and inept it just doesn’t seem feasible that they can win a World Series this year. And that’s a big deal.
Aaron Judge becomes a free agent as soon as the season ends…and I think that if the Yankees don’t win it all this October…Judge is going back to California (where he’s from).
So, Yankee fans, this is your friend Davey Mac here…saying…HIT THE PANIC BUTTON!! THE YANKS ARE GOING DOWN IN FLAMES!!

Montas Stinks! The Yankees Stink!
The Yankees were crushed by the Blue Jays last night…9 to 2. Newly-acquired Yankee Frankie Montas was horrible…giving up six earned runs as he receives the loss. He’s been bad since coming to the Yankees…Montas has now fallen to 4 and 10 for the season. The Yankees (73 – 46), meanwhile, follow that dramatic win with just a lifeless and uninspired effort…but they still lead the Blue Jays (and Rays) by nine games in the A.L. East.

Mets Lose To The Braves
The Mets were defeated by the Braves…3 to 2. Jacob deGrom receives the rare loss for the Mets (76 – 43)…who are now three-and-a-half games in front of Atlanta for first place in the N.L. East.

Phillies Play Tonight
The Phillies were off. They begin a series this evening against the Mets in Philadelphia.

Watson Now Suspended 11 Games
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will have to serve an 11-game suspension and pay a $5 million fine for sexual misconduct. Watson says, quote, “I’m moving on with my career and my life, and I’m going to continue to stand on my innocence.”

NBA Opening Day Announced
The NBA has announced its opening day double-header. The regular season will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 18th with the Philadelphia 76’ers playing the defending Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics. Then, the LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers go against the 2022 NBA champions when L.A. takes on Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
