Good morning, Leias and Jedimen!  It’s your resident Star Wars freak Davey Mac here…or as some call me…Darth David.  And I’m excited to give my two cents review of the latest Star Wars series on Disney Plus, Ahsoka.  The series by long-time Star Wars creator Dave Filoni has come to the end of its remarkable season…and I gotta tell ya…the finale was epic…and the future of the Saga looks golden.

Filoni has been with Star Wars since he was the showrunner on The Clone Wars animated series.  That show, which was created by the master George Lucas, allowed Filoni to learn from Lucas about the mythology of the Force, Jedi, Sith, and basically Star Wars itself.  Lucas even refers to Filoni as his “son” and Filoni happily recognizes George as his mentor.

The result is that Dave Filoni’s stories arguably feel the most Star Wars-y on Disney Plus.  Don’t get me wrong…I’m a fan of pretty much of all the shows.  But, The Mandalorian is a more personal story about a guy and his kid a la John Wayne or Jeff Bridges in True GritThe Book Of Boba Fett was like a Saturday morning cartoon presented in live-action.  Obi-Wan Kenobi had some excellent moments but was a little even.  And Andor is absolutely brilliant but different in its adult and dialogue-driven style combined with mysterious content.  Whereas Ahsoka embraces all that is Star Wars: lightsabers, the Force, Jedi, Sith, monsters, space battles, weird planets, supernatural stuff, and more.  If you like old school Star Wars…you should love Ahsoka.

Season One is eight episodes long.  Admittedly, I felt episodes one through three offered some excellent action sequences…but was a little slow on story.  But (with NO SPOILERS) the action picks up in episode four and you’re off and running after that.  Part Five of the series is one of the best things that Disney has produced in the Star Wars galaxy, episode six is as badass as it comes, the seventh episode is heart-pumping action, and the season finale and eighth episode is simply epic.  So, this megafan of the Saga is giving this show two thumbs way up!  Go check out Ahsoka on Disney Plus for great Star Wars action!
