I’m well aware it’s still October. But, we’re only a month out from Thanksgiving (it’s November 28th this year). And with as big of a meal as it is, even if you have a relatively small family, it’s not a bad idea to begin to think about your plans.
If you’re hosting, time to start thinking about the timeline of how best to go about cooking your turkey. If you’re doing a potluck-style meal, time to start planning which side dish you’re bringing. And certainly, time to start planning the desserts.
Personally, my favorite parts of Thanksgiving are the sides and the desserts. Don’t get me wrong, I do love turkey, but this is a mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie holiday. And honestly, you can have so many different sides to go with your turkey. But what’s a more quintessential Thanksgiving dessert than pie? Sure, you can have cakes and brownies and things, but no dessert screams Thanksgiving like pie does. You just gotta have it on your table!
If you’re not a home baker, pie can seem a bit daunting to try and make yourself. I bake all the time and making my own crust is still an annoyance.
So if you don’t like to bake, I can only imagine how frustrating the idea could be. What are you to do then? How are you supposed to have Thanksgiving dessert when you’re not up to making it yourself?
Luckily, we’re in an area with plenty of fantastic local bakers who will make sure you’ve got a pie on your holiday table this year.
Sure, you could always pick something up at ShopRite, that’s a totally valid option. But why not spread some goodwill this Thanksgiving and shop small? Don’t worry though, I’ve done the research for you. Down below, I’ve listed 7 different places in Monmouth and Ocean counties you could get your Thanksgiving pies this year!
If you decide to get any of your holiday desserts from any of the places on the list, take pictures and tag us on social media! We’d love to see your holiday spreads! Happy (really early) Thanksgiving!
