In 1951, Cleveland based disc jockey, Alan Freed began playing a music style for which he coined a term “Rock and Roll”. Featured in this Rockit performance are some of the early pioneers of rock and roll and the artists they have inspired.
The evening’s event will feature live musical performances by the Rockit Academy and will include selections from David Bowie, Elvis Presley, Greta Van Fleet, Led Zeppelin, Amy Winehouse, Ray Charles, and more.
The Rockit Live Foundation is New Jersey’s leading rock band program for young musicians, ages 8-18 and college level. Rockit, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, helps nurture, inspire and enrich the lives of young musicians through live music education partnered with Brookdale Community College in Lincroft New Jersey. Rockit also provides professional development and music scholarships while emphasizing the importance of community charity efforts.
