Southern Regional High School will host the “Autism: Walk for a Difference” on Saturday, April 18th from 11am to 2pm. Teams are now being formed. The event is being sponsored by POAC Autism Services (the largest provider of free autism training and education in the state).
The services provided by this organization include family recreational activities all year long, ongoing research on the causes of autism, as well as symptoms and treatment, professional development hours for teachers, training for police officers and other first responders, early detection, outreach and training for students from elementary to college. In addition POAC addresses, supports and promotes legislative issues that affect those with autism and their families. All of these programs are provided free of charge.
Proceeds from the “Autism: Walk for a Difference” will help fund all of the programs described above. For more information or to register a team, visit www.southjersey.poacwalk.org.
