The Borough of Belmar is once again stepping up to the plate to say thank you to our brave Men and Women who serve our great Country. What better place, Belmar Beach, and what better time, 4th of July weekend. Our Mayor and Council are moving forward with a day of celebration and thanks to be held on July 2nd, 2011 at the area of Taylor Pavilion in Belmar. Active Military and their families will be given free beach access, a free place to park, free lunch, music, and an area marked off on the beach to guarantee them a relaxing day at the beach. We are blessed to live in this beautiful community and we all wish to share it and say thanks during the 4th of July weekend. It would be appreciated if those who can, would step up and do a little to thank those who give so much.

We are looking for donations to offset the cost that will be incurred in the feeding of approximately 2000 service men and women and their families. We have already been blessed with generous offers to help fund the event from such people like D’Jais, Vrola Meats, Pepsi, Friendly Son’s of Shillelagh, Theo’s Old School BBQ and PBA Local 50.

We still have a long way to go, to give these brave men and women an opportunity to relax for one day with their families and enjoy the thanks of a grateful community. We are looking for monetary donations from businesses or help with food donations. This is a chance for families to bake a plate of something to give to our troops. If we all give a little we surely can’t fail.

We are asking that if you are in a position to help our service people on this 4th of July weekend you contact Amy Spera or Michael Campbell at 732-681-3700, or email
