Join WRAT’s on-air personality Gotts and the rest of the Rat Pack at the annual Polar Bear Plunge. Taking place at one of the Jersey Shore’s most quintessential boardwalks, the day will honor those daring enough to take a dip in the freezing cold waters of the Atlantic in light of a good cause. All of the proceeds will go to the Special Olympics of New Jersey.
Along with taking the plunge, participants are to make a donation of $100 or more to benefit the players of the Special Olympics. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and will continue on through 12:30 p.m. The participants have until1:00 pm to get themselves warmed up for the arctic jump!
At 3 p.m. following the event, Gotts will host the first annual Miss Polar Pageant at the Aztec Ocean Resort, which is also located in Seaside Heights. The prize purse contains $2,500 and the winner of the pageant collects $1,500!
Despite age or swimming capabilities, the Polar Bear Plunge provides entertainment for all who attend. Even if you don’t intend to jump in the water, spectators are encouraged to come and support those participating.
