It’s always a pleasure to talk with a guy like Rudy Sarzo. We caught him before hoping on the Jericho Cruise to discuss many topics. He’s played with some many great musicians. He loves talking about the legendary Randy Rhoads, who he was playing with at his death.
He talks about the unbelievable song and video for a lost Quiet Riot song, “I Can’t Hold On”. He talked about the fifty year old friendship he had with drummer Frankie Banali, finding out he had cancer and a great gift he gave to Rudy. Truly a touching story.
He tells me about rejoining Quiet Riot, a band he was in with Detroit’s own John 5, where the term “Bang Your Head” came from, and his thoughts on Rick Rubin’s comment about Paul McCartney being the #1 bass player he’s seen.
Enjoy!
