This week, our guest is Major Steve Ditmer of the Salvation Army of Ocean County located in Toms River. The Salvation Army exists to meet the needs of people wherever and whenever they can. There are currently over twenty-five branches of the Salvation Army across New Jersey. The Salvation Army of Ocean County location serves as a soup kitchen, food pantry and take out facility to serve the residents. Although the facility serves those in need throughout the year, the holiday season of Thanksgiving and Christmas is a busy time of year. This year Major Steve along with his wife Carol who are the Commanding Officers, will oversee the collection of food items needed for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Volunteers make up boxes which are then distributed to families. Drop offs can be made at the location located on Route 37 east in Toms River.
