On this week’s Jersey Rock Weekly Podcast we honor the life of Eddie Van Halen by rocking Van Halen-inspired music.
We kick things off with a Van Halen covers medley from young rockers! It includes:
Costa Maitoglou from So Far Under doing “You Really Got Me”
Nick Marrotta covering “Panama”
Pierce Akers of Slaves To Humanity rocking “Eruption”
And
Kodiak performing “Panama” live at the Chance Theater in NY!
Legendary Rock photographer Mark Weiss calls in to tell us about his first time photographing Eddie Van Halen at Convention Hall in Asbury Park back in 1979. His book “The Decade That Rocked” includes pictures from that shoot along with a number of great Van Halen images. “The Decade That Rocked” exhibit runs now through 11/1 at the Monmouth Museum at Brookdale Community College. Mark Weiss will be there every Friday from 2pm to 5pm to sign copies of his book. Learn more at thedecadethatrocked.com!
Pete and Chris Biggiani of Kodiak along with their mentor Carmine Appice call in to the show! Kodiak draws influence from Van Halen, and like Eddie and Alex Van Halen, Chris Biggiani plays guitar and Pete Biggiani plays drums. We’ll rock their new VH-inspired single along with an number of other great tracks. Kodiak is this week’s Jersey Rock Band of the Week. Tune to 95.9 The Rat this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear Pete, Chris and Carmine calling in to the show!
