Visit Atlantic City launched Taste Atlantic City on March 1. This month-long event runs through the end of March, replacing the old restaurant week model, with more than 70 restaurants participating.

Guests can choose three-course lunch meals for $20. Dinner comes in at $30, $45, or $60. Celebrity chef spots at casinos joined in — Nobu Atlantic City, Amada by Jose Garces, Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen, Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill, Gordon Ramsay Steak, and Angeline by Michael Symon all opened their doors.

Local spots joined too. Setaara, Angeloni's Club Madrid, and the Knife & Fork Inn are part of it. Downbeach got in on the action with Bocca Coal Fired Bistro, Martina Trattoria, Nucky's Kitchen & Speakeasy, PJ Buckets, Queen Bean Bistro, Sofia Restaurant, and Sunrise Tequila Bar.

Places across Atlantic County jumped in as well. Taste 1864 and Smithville Inn sit outside the city but still offer discounted menus.

"By reinventing the traditional Restaurant Week into a month-long culinary celebration, we are creating a greater opportunity to drive visitation and elevate awareness of Atlantic City's thriving dining scene," said Gary Musich, president and CEO of Visit Atlantic City, according to Downbeach. "From world-class Italian and authentic Asian cuisine, to innovative New American concepts and fresh, locally inspired seafood, Atlantic City offers an exceptional culinary experience for every palate."

The kickoff happened on March 1 with the 11th annual Captain's Table at the Discover Boating Atlantic City Boat Show. Chefs from around the region showed up. Money raised went to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey's "Let Us Eat, Please" foundation, which funds summer feeding programs across South Jersey.

The longer timeline should pull in more visitors and send more customers to local eateries. City officials think a full month gives tourists better chances to sample what Atlantic City serves up.
