As New Jersey's cannabis community prepares for the 4/20 holiday weekend, the state is experiencing a dramatic uptick in cannabis-related events — evidence of both cultural celebration and economic momentum. This follows a much stronger 2024 for the state's regulated cannabis industry, seeing steady sales and consumer engagement.
“We are proud of the remarkable growth achieved in 2024, which highlights the growing trust consumers have in New Jersey's regulated cannabis market and the economic opportunities it provides for businesses of all sizes and classes,” said NJ-CRC Acting Executive Director Christopher Riggs. “This momentum sets a solid foundation for continued success in the years ahead.”
A wide range of 4/20 festivities are scheduled across the state, with events taking place in all regions. In South Jersey, Recharge Wellness is kicking things off early with an event in Woodbury on Thursday, Apr. 17. Central Jersey will host the popular Weedtopia Festival in Edison on Apr. 19, featuring games, vendors, music, and performances. That same day, the notorious NJ Weedman will host his annual block party at The Joint in Trenton.
In North Jersey, the Takeoff Lounge in Newark is hosting its two-day Smoke Fest party on Apr. 19 and 20, with live art and performances. Meanwhile, Highly Elevated Glass in North Plainfield will present ‘Blazed and Amazed,' a carnival-style event with games and live glassblowing on Apr. 19.
Jersey City is also joining the celebration with the Very Potent Festival on Apr. 19, which includes vendors, music, and educational panels highlighting local cannabis culture. Cypress Hill will bring even more energy to the weekend with their Bongwalk Empire show in Atlantic City on Apr. 19, performing alongside Atmosphere and Dilated Peoples.
The celebration continues beyond 4/20. On Apr. 22, the NJ Home Grow Coalition will stage an Earth Day protest at the State House in Trenton, advocating for home cultivation rights. MJ Unpacked, featuring a cannabis cup, is scheduled for Apr. 29 to May 1 in Atlantic City, while the NECANN conference returns to Newark on Sept. 5–6.
New Jersey's cannabis scene is thriving — and the 4/20 weekend is set to be a high point of the year.
