Well, some sad news to share out of Burlington County, a NJ Transit Operator was killed along with 23 others injured.

NJ Transit police are currently investigating this crash. Route 130 in the southbound lane was closed in Bordentown Township because of the crash. But the roadway was reopened as of 10:15 a.m. Monday.

Details On The NJ Transit Crash

A light rail train hit a log on the track Monday morning in northern Burlington. A southbound River Line train hit the tree at 6:04 a.m. as it came up to Roebling Station in Florence. The operator of the train was killed, and 23 other passengers got non-life-threatening injuries, said a NJ Transit spokesperson.

Before the train service gets back on the tracks, officials will continue to "thoroughly evaluate" the spot where a light-rail train struck a log on the tracks Monday morning, according to a NJ Transit spokesperson. Track repairs are also being looked into after the deadly crash.

Who Was The Train Operator

The police did identify the NJ train operator as 41-year-old Jessica Haley a single mother of three boys from Levittown, Pennsylvania, and worked for 20 years as a contractor for NJ Transit, the family's attorney says. The attorney says trees on or near the tracks in Mansfield have long been an issue. Meanwhile, Haley's family is planning to sue. The lawsuit claims NJ Transit failed to protect passengers and the conductor by failing to keep the tracks free of trees and other debris. Jessica worked for 20 years as a contractor for NJ Transit.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time. Thank you for always rocking out with me and 95.9 The Rat. You can get more stories by clicking right HERE. Much LOVE and CHEERS. - Gotts

Gotts is the unofficial mascot of the county. Whenever WRAT is hosting an event, people ask if Gotts will be there. there. Like Bigfoot, many people claim to see him in the area. According to Gotts, he was thrown out of home school in Monroe Township. To keep up with his own legend, Gotts likes writing about wacky local news that happens – such as pepperoni vandals. His favorite movie is Point Break, and is a big lover of Miller Lite. His favorite words to live by are “The windshield is always bigger than the rearview mirror”.
