Girl Blasts Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Free Bird’ Solo On The Bagpipes
A girl at a Celtic Festival did the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic, Free Bird solo on the bagpipes to absolute perfection, and someone captured it on video for us all to enjoy!
The event was the 33rd annual Pittsburgh Irish Festival. It was held the weekend of September 6th through the 8th at the Carrie Blast Furnaces National Historic Landmark — Rivers of Steel, which is a historical landmark located in the city. A remnant of the once massive, legendary U.S. Steel Homestead Steel Works, the Carrie Blast Furnaces are a vestige of Pittsburgh’s 20th-century domination of the steel industry.
According to the festival website, in addition to the three-day “Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Festival,” the Pittsburgh Irish Festival has expanded into a year-round resource for education and cultural programs through the creation of the Irish Education Outreach Program.
The Program’s primary objective is to create a higher awareness of the ethnic richness and significance of the Irish and Irish-American culture and presence, from both a historical and contemporary perspective. This year’s festival was filled with food, drink, vendors, and loads of entertainment, including one special young lady.
