Funeral Home Searches For The Family Of Deceased Leonia Woman
Does somebody know this person!?
A 92-year-old woman died alone in a nursing facility, and a Bergen County funeral home is looking for relatives to help her be laid to rest.
This poor woman died on July 17, at the Care One nursing home in Cresskill. The director at Eternity Funeral Services in Englewood says it is extremely rare to care for a person with no known relations. I have been to funerals where there were only 2 or maybe 3 relatives, but I have never heard of anyone showing up. Some caring people from around her area went to Facebook to try to find relatives or provide information.
Who Was This Woman And What Happens If No One Shows Up For Her?
This 92-year-old woman’s name is Carmela Polemeni, who is from Leonia. It was said that in 25 years, Polimeni never had any visitors. This story has me very sad to be writing about it.
Now the director, Aree Booker did say he will wait until August 17 before going forward with the proper services. “If we don’t have any relatives come forward, then we will move forward to give her a dignified funeral service,” Booker says. If no one does come forward she will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Hillside in what’s known as a “non-titled grave” without a headstone. Anyone with information can call Aree Booker at 201-568-2671.
