Dave Portnoy Scores Revealed For Jersey Shore Pizza In & Near Monmouth County
Dave Portnoy – El Presidente made another visit to the Jersey Shore on Sunday July 28th. My eagle-eyed foodie friends posted on Facebook that Dave made his way to several places in Monmouth County right around the same time another president was visiting Deal, New Jersey for a fundraiser.
Which Jersey Shore Pizza Joints Has Dave Portnoy Visited In The Past?
Dave really likes the Jersey Shore, he’s been here for both business and pleasure. Back in 2021, Dave dropped by Rosie’s Pizza in Point Pleasant Beach and gave their pizza a score of 8.5.
At Vic’s in Bradley Beach, Dave nearly burnt off the roof of his mouth because he didn’t wait until the pizza cooled down enough, but wound up giving Vic’s, a Jersey Shore favorite an 8.3 for their delicious thin-crust pizza.
He’s also been to Nunzio’s in Long Branch, Del Ponte’s Coal Fired in Bradley Beach, Pete & Elda’s, in Neptune City, The Galley in Asbury Park, Urban Coal House in Red Bank, Squan Tavern in Manasquan, Seabright Pizza, Maruca’s in Seaside Heights, Nicholas Barrel & Roost in Red Bank, Tommy’s Tavern & Tap in Seabright, Zoni’s Brooklyn Brick Coal Oven Pizza on the Middletown-Red Bank border (one of my favorites), Johnny Mac’s House Of Spirit’s in Asbury Park, Brooklyn Square In Jackson, Dusal’s in Freehold, along with other Freehold favorites such as Federici’s, Frankie Fed’s, Romeo’s Raintree Pizzeria and several others on the Jersey Shore.
Dave could spend an entire Summer on the Jersey Shore and there’s no way he’d be able to hit up every single pizza place. Portnoy would have to move to the shore temporarily to even make a dent.
On Sunday, July 28, 2024. Dave was spotted at a few pizza joints in Monmouth County. My friend Tom posted a photo of Dave at Zachary’s Restaurant on Oceanport Ave in West Long Branch, and word has it that Dave gave them an 8.1.
On Zachary’s Facebook page, the post reads, “We are very excited to announce that The David Portnoy – El Presidente stopped in today to try our famous thin-crust pizza! Keep an eye out on Barstool Sports for his review and come in to leave one of your own.”
I also found out that Dave stopped into Gigi’s Pizza on Ocean Ave in Seabright. He posted a photo on his Facebook page with the caption, “No rest on Sunday. #jerseyshore #pizza.”
My friend Tom also mentioned that Dave made his way to The Sauce Pizzeria on E. Main Street in Oceanport, and Panko Pizza on Highway 35 in Middletown. It’s also been reported that Dave took a ride to L.B.I. I saw a photo of Dave with a local at Surf City Pizza. Surf City’s score was not available as of press time.
Dave also took a ride to Via Sposito’s Old Bridge location, Salerno’s in Hazlet and Alternate Ending Brewery in Aberdeen where Asbury Park’s Talula’s has a satellite location.
UPDATE: Dave’s reviews have been officially posted. One bite, everyone knows the rules.
Via Sposito’s had a little flop, but Dave gave them a respectable 7.4
Dave thought the slice had an interesting under carriage and gave Panko’s $9.99 18” round pie a 7.4 as well. He referred to the pizza as “Value Pizza Of The Year” due to the low price for a decent pie.
Dave was met with a crowd at Gigi’s and this guy was chirping away trying to steal the show but Dave wasn’t having it. Dave called Gigi’s a basic football pizza, not a beach pizza. But likened it to a New York style pizza. Gigi’s also got a 7.4 score out of 10.
The Sauce in Oceanport, a place that has come highly recommended. The pizza didn’t have any flop and Dave called it really good pizza and gave it a score of an incredible 8.1.
