Budweiser Clydesdales To Appear On Long Beach Island Friday
The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales, the most famous group of horses ever, will be at the Jersey Shore this week! Specifically LBI Friday!
According to a press release, the team will be down in Margate on Thursday from 2 pm until 4 pm and on Long Beach Island this Friday the 16th beginning at 11 am.
About The Budweiser Clydesdales
According to the press release, this year’s trip to the Jersey Shore is one of several made annually by the traveling hitches who appear in select areas from coast to coast. It is a rare opportunity to have them in the down beach area for a team that performed at the Tournament of Roses Parade, the St. Louis Cardinals opening day, and Daytona Beach Bike Week this year alone. Canadians of Scottish descent brought the first Clydesdales to America in the mid-1800s. Today, the giant, muscular draft horses (bred for hauling or plowing farms) are used primarily for breeding and shows like the one coming to the Shore.
Horses chosen for the Budweiser Clydesdale hitch must be at least three years old, stand approximately 18 hands – or 6 feet- at the shoulder, weigh an average of 2,000 pounds, must be bay in color, have four white legs, and a blaze of white on the face and black mane and tail. A single Clydesdale will consume as much as 20-25 quarts of feed, 40-50 pounds of hay, and 30 gallons of water per day.
Presently, the Budweiser Clydesdales reside at the Anheuser-Busch breweries in St. Louis for public viewing. Visitors can also see the Clydesdales up close at Warm Springs Ranch, the premier Budweiser Clydesdales breeding establishment in Boonville, Missouri. Both attractions are open seasonally.
When they’re not making appearances around the country, the Budweiser Clydesdales also continue to be marketing stalwarts for Anheuser-Busch.
They first appeared in the Super Bowl in 1975, and have since appeared in countless Super Bowl commercials for the company.
Residents and visitors should take the opportunity to appreciate these beautiful creatures up close during this once-in-a-lifetime spectacle. No one Is permitted to touch or pet the horses.
