Crown Chicken & Gyro Is Coming To The Yorktown Plaza In Ocean County

Crown Chicken & Gyro will be opening a new eatery in the Yorktown Plaza at Yorktown Blvd and Brick Blvd, near Holiday City, on the Bricktown/Toms River border.

The plaza is already home to Dominos Pizza, and a now closed Caribbean restaurant. Plus, a popular convenience store, cigar shop, barber shop, and other businesses. The plaza is especially popular with the Holiday City 55 and older community that is adjacent to the shopping center. 

About Crown Chicken & Gyro

The phrase Crown Chicken is used by many fried chicken joints all over the New York-New Jersey and Philadelphia area. So currently I’m not 100 sure if this is part of an existing chain, or a new start-up. However what I do know is that if it is anything like the Halal-style food cooked at many of the Chicken & Gyro places, we are in for a real tasty treat! What makes Halal-style food taste so good is that because of the strict Halal laws on processing meat, the food often tastes fresher and lighter, even if it is deep fried, like chicken often is. Plus, you through in the Greek influence of Gyros and man, my mouth is watering already! 

There is a Crown Fried Chicken & Gyro in Glassboro, and I did reach out to them to see if they were affiliated with this new store coming to the Jersey Shore, but haven’t heard back from them yet. Even if there is no relationship there, you can see what I mean about the awesome food from THEIR menu here.

Personally, I really hope the new Crown Chicken & Gyro coming to the Yorktown Plaza has great food and does fantastic business. The plaza hasn’t been kind to small startup eateries over the years, with only Domino’s being able to thrive recently. I liked the Caribbean restaurant that was there for a time, but it may have just been too off the culinary beaten path for the older demographic in Holiday City and families in nearby Silverton. But hey, everybody likes Fried Chicken, right??

Believe it or not, Jimmy’s first job was overnights at a Christian Radio Station. Best Day: I know a lot of folks say this, but it’s true: the day my little girl Jynell and my boy Big D were born! Next to that, it would have to be the day I was baked on earth day in Central Park and met Keefer Sutherland…baked too, I believe.
