Hey, Carl Craft here. I had a cool chance to chat with the lead singer from rock band Live, Ed Kowalczyk and Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots. They were…

Robert DeLeo of rock band Stone Temple Pilots discusses the new tour with Live.

WRAT

Hey, Carl Craft here. I had a cool chance to chat with the lead singer from rock band Live, Ed Kowalczyk and Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots. They were doing some zoom chats to talk about the upcoming tour that they're doing together. The "Jubilee Tour" with Live and Stone Temple Pilots will stop into the PNC Bank Arts Center on September 6th.

As you can tell from the chat below, we had a fun 10 minutes or so. Before I got on the zoom call with them I couldn't think of any time the Live and Stone Temple Pilots had toured together. But they remembered a joint appearance at the Rolling Rock Town Fair! How crazy is it that WRAT actually sent a ton of winners to that show, so maybe you were there too and remember the muddy scene that Robert references in our conversation...

Live, Stone Temple Pilots

Things I learned during this chat:

  1. There's a new Live song coming out with Dean DeLeo of STP on guitar.
  2. Ed would love to sing on a STP song if given the opportunity on this tour.
  3. Robert would def be into that.
  4. Since Robert grew up on the Jersey shore (in Point Pleasant), I asked him where he would take Ed if he were giving him a tour of his home town. "what Find out which ice cream shop, which pizza place and which sub shop he name drops at the end of the video.

Live With Stone Temple Pilots On Tour

As for the tour, we're expecting a co-headline show from these two legendary 90's bands. Interestingly enough, opening up the show in our area is Soul Asylum. Live and Stone Temple Pilots are each celebrating the 30th anniversary of a legendary album.

STP is marking the 30th of their second album, "Purple". It's got amazing STP hits like "Big Empty", "Vasoline", "Unglued", and my favorite, "Interstate Love Song". But Purple also has great album cuts like "Pretty Penny". Anyone who thought that Stone Temple Pilots would be a one album band were put to bed with "Purple".

Meanwhile, Live is honoring the 30th anniversary of their album "Throwing Copper". This is the record that gave us the hits, "Lightning Crashes", "Selling The Drama" and "I Alone". But the album is as deep as "Purple" with album cuts like, "The Dam At Otter Creek" and "Shit Towne" being fan favorites.
