We have so many burger places in Ocean County so I’m a tad confused as to why someone would add to the already saturated burger market.
On Route 37 East heading toward Seaside, we have one of the best burger places in the county. You know I’m talking about Burger 25. They make incredibly inventive burgers, handspun shakes and tasty fries.
Burger 25’s other locations include Ship bottom on L.B. I. and the newest one at 2045 Route 88 in Brick, next to the new Icarus Brewing Company.
Route 37 in Toms River also has Freddie’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, Burger King, McDonald’s, Checkers, Five Guys, Wendy's, not to mention the pubs and bars in the area serving excellent burgers like The Miracle Bar, Christopher’s Pub, and Ike’s Pub inside the Clarion Hotel, as well as a host of diners in town.
Where On Route 37 In Toms River Will This Burger Place Open?
A local from one of my community social media pages saw the sign for a brand-new place called, “Fat Patty’s” that will be filling the space that once occupied The Mellow Mushroom, and Lot Eleven Eleven, a pub type joint that wasn’t even open a year before closing it’s doors.
Tri County Scanner NewsFat Patty’s tagline is: BITE THIS!
According to my findings, Fat Patty's, LLC owns and operates a chain of restaurants. The Company offers a range of burgers and sandwiches, wings, appetizers, salads, and wraps, as well as steaks and chicken dinners. Fat Patty's serves customers in the States of West Virginia and Kentucky.
From West Virginia and Kentucky to New Jersey? I had to study the menu to see if they were doing something out of the ordinary.
I see 15 plus specialty burgers on the menu including, The Big Dill Patty made with hand breaded fried pickles, bacon, fried onions, and pepper jack cheese drizzled with chipotle ranch on a pretzel bun. That’s kind of different.
Other burgers are served on brioche buns unless otherwise noted and come with a choice of signature sides.

They also serve a multitude of munchies that include, fried mushrooms, Bretzels which are large Bavarian pretzel sticks with a choice of dipping cheeses, house chips with pimento cheese, potato boats which are loaded potato skins, mac & cheese bites, and other offerings. Quesadillas and nachos also make the cut.
There’s also a section of the menu called, “The Bird Herd” filled with chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, wings, and chicken wraps.
Also listed are a bunch of Fat Sandwiches, Patty’s Pies, featuring pizza pie selections and a sweets menu that includes dessert pretzels, molten cake, and Fat sundaes.
Gordon Ramsey would have a field day ripping this place apart due to the way too extensive menu.
I also realized that the Fat Patty's that may be opening on Route 37 may not be affiliated with the West Virginia franchise. There’s a Fat Pattie’s Burger Bar in Binghampton, N.Y. that has nothing to do with the burger chain.
I tried calling Fat Patty’s corporate office to confirm that they are in fact the Fat Patty's chain coming to New Jersey, but I got no answer.
