There’s A Great New Restaurant On The Jersey Shore The Locals Are Talking About
Have you checked out this new restaurant on The Jersey Shore?
It’s called, Capitano Italian Coastal Kitchen and it looks fabulous. It’s a BYOB eatery with indoor and outdoor dining located at 830 N Bay Ave, Beach Haven in Bay Village/Schooners Wharf.
Another place to enjoy coastal Italian cuisine at the Jersey Shore. According to their website, their passion for authentic Italian classics and fresh seafood has been a culinary dream for years in the making. Our chefs meticulously craft each dish with the finest ingredients to ensure a memorable dining experience.
The menu has a lot of dishes you’d expect from such a restaurant along with dishes that stand out. On the starters portion of the menu they list: Peaches & Prosciutto, a creamy ricotta mixed with walnuts & honey, peaches, & balsamic reduction.
They also offer a nice assortment of “Pizzettes.” The one that caught my eye is the Fig Di Sicilia, made with fig marmalade, prosciutto, arugula, & mozzarella. The Sinatra looks like a winner too. It’s made with cherry peppers, mozzarella, bacon, and olive oil.
The pasta menu has homemade lobster ravioli with jumbo shrimp, in a pink parmesan cream sauce, capellini crabmeat with fresh garlic, sundried tomatoes, and arugula in a light tomato sauce.
Looking at the menu’s meat & more options, the Drunken eggplant Parmigiana looks to be something I would consider ordering. The eggplant is egg battered with Romano cheese, house-made vodka sauce, baked mozzarella, and capellini. The Chicken Amalfi also caught my eye. It’s a chicken cutlet with sausage, spicy peppers, artichoke, & lemon garlic white wine.
The seafood entrees, raw bar, and starter menu lists a variety of fish, shrimp, clams, oysters, lobster, and crab. I’m a sucker for a great Flounder Francese dish.
There’s a kid’s menu and a sides menu that includes truffle fries.
What Do The Locals Think?
Bob S. wrote, “We visited Capitano just two days after it opened and despite some trepidation about going to a brand-new restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised. It retained the friendly and comfortable atmosphere of its predecessor in the location. The food was top-notch as well. The only flaw in an excellent evening was the slow service, which was understandable given they were still not fully staffed and will no doubt be addressed by the time we next visit.”
Lori M. offered this review, “We went last night. Cappellini Crabmeat was a table favorite. The bacon-wrapped scallops were huge! Mussels great. Eggplant parm is also a great very generous portion.”
“Chilled lobster was slightly undercooked. They are getting up to speed, but off to a great start.”
Samantha also tried Capitano just days after they opened and wrote, “Went last night! Got the meatball trio, burrata and prosciutto, and shrimp cocktail apps (all good!) I got the chicken Milanese as my main, huge portion size and great flavor. Nice thin crispy cutlet. My husband got the lobster ravioli, and it came with shrimp as well, he couldn’t finish it all but the flavor was good!”

I usually wait a month or so to try a brand-new restaurant because every new business has to first work out the kinks so they can eventually run smoothly.
The place has only been open for about a month. When you’re ready, give them a try.
