$1.08 Billion Powerball Jackpot Winner Identified
$1.08 Billion Powerball Jackpot Winner Identified.
It has finally been revealed that a woman named Yanira Alvarez purchased the winning ticket back in July at Las Palmitas Mini Market, a tiny convenience store in downtown Los Angeles.
Alvarez’s winning numbers were 7, 10, 11, 13, 24, and the red Powerball 24.
They don’t call it the Golden State for nothing.
Ms. Alvarez opted for the one-time lump sum of $558.1 million instead of the $1.08 billion paid out in yearly increments.
Last year, it was reported that the Las Palmitas Mini Market in downtown Los Angeles sold the billion-dollar ticket.
If you or someone you know plays the lottery on a regular basis and doesn’t hit the jackpot, most people often pray that the winning ticket is purchased by someone who desperately needs it.
You Still Have a Chance To Win The Next Powerball Jackpot
Last night’s (March 30, 2024) Powerball drawing with an estimated jackpot of $935 million or a cash value of $452.3 million had no winner.
This past Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in one of the largest Mega Million jackpots of all time, the winning ticket was sold in Monmouth County, New Jersey.
One winning ticket matching all six numbers was sold at ShopRite Liquors in Neptune. The ticket is worth $1.13 billion.
I don’t expect the winner to come forward. In New Jersey, you are allowed to remain anonymous.
A little over 4 years ago, Governor Phil Murphy signed a law allowing lottery winners to remain anonymous in New Jersey.
Mega Millions 1.13 Billion Ticket Sold In Neptune
According to the Daily Mail, Alvarez’s prize was the third largest in the history of the game at the time of the drawing, but it now sits in fourth place after Theodorus Struyck, another California resident, won the $1.75 billion jackpot last October.
Struyck came forward earlier this month as the representative of a group of winners who purchased the ticket at Midway Market & Liquor in Frazier Park, about an hour’s drive from Los Angeles.
Store owner Nabor Herrera, who received a $1 million bonus for just selling the ticket, said he did not realize he’d sold the winning ticket until he arrived for work early Thursday and saw cameras camped out in front of the shop.
Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
