Alleged kidnapper In 2 Counties Busted In Toms River
Hey there and let’s be grateful because an accused kidnapper has been caught. His name is Quamel J. Benton, 35, and he is looking at a bunch of charges. His mailing address is based out of Farmingdale, but decided to head to Lakewood looking for trouble.
Let’s go back to Thursday just around 7:30 pm when he showed up at Forest Park Circle. That’s when he tried to pull a young teenager into his vehicle, and thankfully she was able to break free from this nut job and get home safe. The suspect did flee from the scene, but police did get a great description of the car he was driving.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, the suspect was driving a small white SUV. Check this out, about 90 minutes later just around 9 PM, Toms River police got a call of a female being sexually assaulted, in the parking lot of Target. The female said she was being grabbed inappropriately then he took off. Police were able to identify the suspect and were hot on his trail as he left the Target parking lot.
This suspect took off at high speeds and made his way to the Garden State Parkway, heading north. The chase did have to be called off though because he was driving so crazy, and the police did not want anyone in danger on the road according to Billhimer. No need to worry because the police got the license plate number and tracked it down to be the owner of Quamel J. Benton. You can get more information on this crazy story by clicking right HERE.
Kidnapper Busted In Toms River And Here Is How Police Busted His Ass:
This suspect and accused kidnapper is no stranger to being dangerous, he has been tied to other assaults in Willingboro earlier that day. This ongoing investigation has confirmed, Benton was the one who committed these crimes in Lakewood and Toms River.
Just around 12:40 am Friday, the police were called in Toms River after a man tried to get into a car occupied by a woman. The police were able to tell that was Beton, the suspect on the hot plate.
Quamel J. Benton tried to take off yet again, and that did not end up well. Toms River police chased him, and that’s when Benton lost control of the car, and crashed into a utility pole. After the crash he got out of the car, he tried to run but Toms River’s finest caught up and arrested him. This all took place at Whitesville Road and Route 70, as reported by Billhimer.
The Charges Against Benton:
I don’t think we will be seeing him around for a while and thank God for that. This is like something out of a movie with this story. Let’s hope we don’t have to hear from this guy again and pray we don’t have him on the streets anymore. Here is the list of charges Benton is looking at:
- Attempted Kidnapping
- Luring
- Endangering The Welfare Of A Child
- Criminal Sexual Contact
- 2 Counts Of Eluding
- Resisting Arrest
- Obstruction
Oh and almost forgot, Willingboro police have hit him with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon, in an unlawful purpose for the stunt he tried to pull earlier that day, said Billhimer. Accused kidnapper, Benton will be held and spending time at Burlington County jail. That being said I say thank you to all law enforcement involved in getting this guy off the street!
