Monmouth Mall Is Near Demolition And Getting Ready For 1,000 Apartments
Get ready to say goodbye to the Monmouth Mall real soon. This happens to be one of New Jersey’s biggest malls. As 40% of its retail space is getting ready to be knocked down, the new crew will be coming in and doing some prep work for an open-air shopping center called Monmouth Square. According to NJ.com the plans to redo the mall were issued to the Eatontown officials, back in the summer of 2022. After receiving those, the planning board gave the green light for the developer’s site plan in December. Back in January, the demolition crews got started, and this early spring will start the rebuild.
Monmouth Square And What To Look Forward Too In The Future
The new Monmouth Square will have much less of the mall’s roof and also will have the shops and restaurants open to the outside public. The designer of the project is going to get rid of part of the mall and add 1,000 luxury apartments. According to officials, who said the area was in much need of improvement, and shopping went from 90% in 2018 down to 62% back in 2022.
The developer, Kushner Companies, will be getting rid of JCPenney and Lord & Taylor stores, which will be the construction of 1,000 new apartments, with 125 of these will be affordable. Which brings me to the question, ” Who can afford the other ones that are going up?”
Kushner Companies did grab a hold of the mall back in 2022 and had their eyes set on bringing it to a town center environment. In my outlook on this, it seems not a lot of people don’t even leave the couch anymore to go shopping. I think Amazon has taken over from what you want and need now.
So in conclusion we wish them the best of luck and hope nothing but the best. Thank you for taking the time out to check this story out and as always rocking out with me and 95.9 The Rat. You can get more stories by clicking right HERE. Much Love and Cheers.- Gotts
