Uh- oh, someone left the door unlocked at a local Wawa store just a few miles down the road from our radio station.
I love that Wawa, and I’m angry that some dirtbags took advantage of an unfortunate situation.
The Wawa location is on Route 35 in Wall Township, on the corner of 35 and Lakewood Road. On New Year’s Eve, the company employees closed the store from 11pm until 6am so they could enjoy ringing in the New Year with friends and family.
The store was left unlocked!
It seems that the lock was in disrepair. Maybe someone contacted a local locksmith and they were unable to come before 11pm.
Did someone contact corporate?
Did corporate know and do nothing about it? No one is saying.
Still, leaving a business unlocked is irresponsible on management's part.
According to the local police who arrived around 2 a.m., there was a note on the door saying the business would be closed from 11 p.m. on New Years Eve until 6 a.m. New Year’s Day.
Apparently, an unlocked door means everything is free to some people who just walked in and took whatever they wanted.
We call these people thieves.

However, there were a few people who took what they needed and were kind enough to leave money on the counter. There are a few people left in this world who still have a conscience.
And now police are investigating the thefts and want the individuals who stole items to contact them.
I have a feeling that’s not going to happen. Wawa stores usually have surveillance, so the only way any of these thieving clowns are going to face justice is if someone recognizes their mugs from the in-store cameras.
The only feedback the cops received from Wawa management was, “The store was closed but was left open due to an "oversight”.
To the folks who thought it was ok to rip off a local Wawa, karma will be coming to kick your ass.
If you know any of the thieves, or are one of the thieves, grow a conscience and contact Detective Ty Hughes 732-449-4500, and turn yourself in.
