Nacho Cheese Doritos Flavored Alcohol Is A Thing And You Can Try It
A distillery has created Doritos flavored alcohol.
I’ll take, “Things That Make Me Wanna Puke” for $500, Alex. A European booze company has just released Doritos flavored alcohol. According to people who have tried it, it tastes and smells like nacho cheese Doritos.
Denmark’s Empirical distillery came up with the concept. It’s basically Doritos-flavored vodka that checks in at 82 proof. That’s 42% alcohol!
A writer for Food & Wine tried the beverage and they confirmed that this new Doritos-flavored alcohol is pretty spot on. Quote: “brimming with the unmistakable tang of cheese dust.”
They thought the aftertaste was a little more like Fritos than Doritos though.
So, just to be clear, that’s a positive review of this Doritos flavored vodka?! Do I have this all wrong? Is it even possible that this is a good thing? I’ll admit to enjoying a few vodka tonics with a big family bag of nacho cheese Doritos a few times over the course of my lifetime. Never once did I think that the booze itself should be nacho cheese flavored. However, I must say that the best part of the Doritos bag is the crumbles and cheese dust at the bottom of the bag.
Hmmmmm. Doritos flavored alcohol?
According to the main distiller at Empirical, he’s been making this juice for friends for years but it’s only been in the last few months that they convinced them that this Doritos-flavored spirit should be unleashed upon the world.
Preorders are beginning at 9am on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Sound like this might be a limited run, so if it’s your thing you might want to jump on it.
As of this writing, each bottle is $65 for a fifth. Empirical released this video to announce the birth of Doritos-flavored booze. I’m not sure I want to drop sixty-five large on this possible puke train, but I’m definitely curious to try it.
7 Monmouth County Restaurants With Great Local Craft Beer On Tap
The craft beer scene is exploding; everyone knows that. These days when I go out to eat, I have two decisions to make: What am I hungry for? And, what am I thirsty for? Usually that means, “craft beer on tap”.
That’s right, I’m part of a growing number of people who consider what craft beers are on tap at a specific location as I decide where I’m going to have lunch or dinner. Call us, “Crafties” or “Beerheads”.
So, with the help of some of my Beerhead buddies, I put together a list of places in Monmouth County that have great beer lists to go along with their kitchen offerings. Coming soon, the Beerhead list for Ocean County.
Before the list hits, here are the qualities that make a place qualify for a Beerhead:
- Yes, there’s got to be multiple beers on tap; but the beer offered has to be a mix of styles. They all can’t be heavy double IPA’s. I want a mix of sours, ales, lagers, IPA’s, and stouts. Possibly more.
- The mix of beer on tap should definitely include local craft beers. Local breweries should be featured because – beyond it being the “right thing to do” – beer should be consumed young. Less time spent rumbling highways from far away, the better.
- Regional craft breweries should be represented too. For us that means PA, NY, Vermont and beyond.
- Last but not least: knowledge. The person behind the bar should have a decent handle on what each beverage brings to the glass.
With all that in mind, here’s a list of restaurants in Monmouth County that I think have a good handle on all these ideas ending up with good choices for people looking for good craft beer on tap.
