Jersey Rock Band of the Week: Rahway
Rahway’s “Sounds of Spanktown” EP release show rocks Debonair Music Hall this Saturday! Hear cuts from the release all week on Jersey Rock!

Rocking Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck This Saturday Night 10/21!
The Slumlords of New Jersey are back with a brand new EP! Rahway's "Sounds of Spanktown" is a killer collection of high-octane tracks. The group is aiming for the stratosphere on this one and they're already off to a great start. The 3 singles they have released from the EP have wracked up close to 200,000 combined streams on spotify. The release also reunited the band with a favorite past collaborator. Speaking on the EP, bass player Tim Louie said:
"We brought back Mike Orlando from Adrenaline Mob to produce it out of his Sonic Stomp Studios in Staten Italy. (He produced our last EP Slumlords of New Jersey). Sounds of Spanktown features six songs including the Spotify hits “Carry You”, “Rocketship” and “Drowning,” and is rounded out by the songs “Pain In My Ass”, “Cage The Animal” and the ballad “Oughta Know.”'
The EP is also wrapped in packaging of historic significance. At first glance the title "Sounds of Spanktown" sounds like a tongue-in-cheek play on words from a group that is far from shy. However, that is not the case. The name in fact draws from a past dating back to the earliest days of America. Louie said of the title:
"I know, I know. It sounds dirty, right? We found out through our good friend, Google, that Spanktown was the name of the town of Rahway during the Revolutionary War. In fact, there was a battle there. So, naturally, we wanted to tie that into the name of the new EP."
"Sounds of Spanktown" will be available for global streaming on October 27, however you will have the chance to score a physical copy this Saturday night October 21st at the EP release show. Rahway will host an epic party that night. Louie went into great detail describing the evening, stating:
We have our bud and comedian, Don Jamieson from That Metal Show and the new YouTube series That Rocks, hosting the event. 13-year-old rock sensation Kobi Reese and Orlando’s Best Rock Band, Fyre Insyde will be kicking the party off, then we plan to perform our new EP Sounds of Spanktown in its entirety along with songs off of our previous EPs, Slumlords of New Jersey and Undefeated.
Tickets for Rahway's EP release show are available HERE. There are also VIP options available, which include an open bard soundcheck cocktail hour before the doors open. Details are available at RahwayBand.com.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The RAT Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to hear selections from Rahway's "Sounds of Spanktown"! Tim Louie will call in to the show each night!

Chow Down On Some Of The Best Fat Sandwiches In New Jersey
Almost as Jersey as Pork Roll, or Taylor Ham if you will, is The Fat Sandwich. Only in the Garden State would we invent such a Frankensandwich.
Origin.
The first Fat Sandwich was created by a local restaurant in New Brunswick in the 1970's, and called the "Fat Cat". It was simply a cheeseburger with all the fixings, and a load of french fries piled on top, inside a burger bun. The famous Rutgers University Grease Trucks eventually picked up on this idea and began selling similar items. Simple enough. However, in 1997 it all changed. A Rutgers student named Darrell Butler, after a night of partying, stopped at one of the trucks and asked them to create the Babe Ruth of Fat Sandwiches. Butler had the Grease Truck combine chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, French fries, and marinara sauce in a bun. Thus, The Fat Darrell was born, and things just took off from there.

Furthermore, according to Wikipedia, since the creation of the "Fat Darrell," dozens of additional Fat Sandwich combinations have been composed. Many combinations of available ingredients have been created, including multiple vegetarian options. Meanwhile, Fat sandwiches have become available in many short-order eateries and pizza places in and around the state. With popularity spreading beyond the region. Moreover, with nationwide media recognition, fat sandwich vendors are popping up on various college campuses around the country.

Fat Sandwiches Today.
Not surprisingly, your local sandwich shop, pizzeria, or even full service deli most likely has Fat Sandwiches on their menu. While not your healthiest option, sometimes it's just what you need to fight off a nasty hangover, or just quiet those massive hunger pains. Here are some of the more popular Fat Sammies throughout the state of New Jersey. I have to admit some of them make me want to hop in the car and drive to get one right now. While others make me wonder just how drunk their inventor had to be to come up with such a monstrosity!
