Parents in Howell, New Jersey got a troublesome phone call late last week.  Their kids were stranded at a local elementary school after an after-school program got evicted and the owner didn't notify the parents or the school of his business being locked out.  Turns out that Fitkidz in Howell was evicted leaving kids stranded and parents scrambling.

Parents had expected an ordinary day for their kids:  School until early afternoon, then transportation to the after school program called The FitKidz on Route 9 in Howell.  However, to their shock they ended up needing to scramble to get their kids from their elementary school because the FitKidz in Howell was evicted and had been padlocked earlier in the day.

One parent commented on a social media post that they were aware of the impending closure of Fitkidz but were told that it was scheduled to close at the end of September. However over a week before the end of the month, there was a warrant of removal placed on the door and locks changed.  The parent went on to complain that there was no advance warning given:

"I ended up getting a phone call from my son’s principal from Land O' Pines (elementary school) advising that they had been evicted and they were holding the kids there because it wasn’t safe to send them." -Former Fitkidz parent

The owner of FitKidz was a no-show that day, but from what we gather the young people who were employed as coaches at the Howell location took it upon themselves to go the extra mile and try to provide care for the 1st and 2nd graders where possible.  Many of the young people who were hired to be "coaches" at FitKidz in Howell are now reaching out to the community on local to apologize for their employers actions.  However, clearly the principal at at least one school had to act fast and save the kids from being delivered to an after school program that didn't exist.

FitKidz did not respond to a request for comment for this article.

When Carl is not working at the greatest rock radio station known to mankind; a station known around the globe; a station that has the best music, co-workers, advertisers and most importantly THE BEST F'N LISTENERS you may find me doing any one of the following: Riding or making mountain bike trails. playing with his kids. playing sand volleyball on 5th Ave, cooking amazing food, including on his sweet smoker grill, going to concerts, swimming in the ocean, going to amusement parks with his kids, and other stuff that rocks!
