The Most Perfect Place For a Romantic Dinner Celebration Is Right Here In Monmouth County
Last Saturday evening, Bruce took me to one of the most charming romantic restaurants in Monmouth County to celebrate my birthday.
I got all gussied up in a gorgeous flowy long dress with my very best sexy heels, hair done to perfection, and a touch of make-up to make my eyes pop.
I had no idea where we were going as Bruce took an unusual route just to confuse me.
When we got closer to the restaurant, my face lit up as he turned on to Meeting House Road in Seagirt.
We were at one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Scarborough Fair is a restaurant in a farmhouse that dates back to the 1800s.
From the mid-1850s to the 1970s, the original building was a working farmhouse.
In 1980, Scarborough Fair’s building was completely renovated by the Fotinos family.
It’s rustic charm and eclectic décor will wow every person who walks through the door. With the private dining alcoves, and the romantic lighting, it’s a sure bet you’ll be back after your first dining experience.
Love is in the air at Scarborough Fair, and fabulous cocktails and exquisite food are on your table.
Bruce and I started our meal with wine. Bruce ordered the house Cabernet Sauvignon, and I ordered a nice glass of a beautiful Rosé Sangria.
For our app, we chose to share a plate of the Crispy Calamari with Pepperoncini, marinara, charred lemon, wasabi aioli, Thai chili.
What made this dish extraordinary, was the pairing of the wasabi aioli and the Thai chili sauce. It wasn’t overly spicy, but it did have a kick. The combination of flavors knocked us out, we didn’t even bother with the marinara. The squeeze of the charred lemon sent it over the top. The calamari itself was light and crispy and perfectly seasoned.
For dinner, Bruce chose the Pistachio‐crusted Salmon with Heirloom potatoes, summer squash, Meyer lemon thyme sauce.
Such a lovely thoughtful dish! I tasted it and made a mental note to try and recreate it at home.
I ordered the Halibut special topped with a mélange of crabmeat, mushrooms, tomatoes, capers, and olives and fresh asparagus spears sitting on top of my lovely piece of halibut on a mound of black forbidden rice.
The meal and service couldn’t be more perfect. Had we not had an appetizer, we surely would have had room for dessert.
Scarborough Fair also has a great happy hour Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 6 at the bar only with half off bar food and special prices for beer, wine and well drinks.
This was a delightful end to another trip around the sun.
