Now, THIS is a weird story! As reported by CBS News, over two thousand JCP&L customers in Sayreville, New Jersey lost electricity recently for the craziest reason.
According to the Sayreville Police Department, investigators believe that a bird was flying over a transformer carrying a fish...when the bird dropped the fish...and the transformer got jacked up.
The result was at least 2,100 people losing their power for what may be the nuttiest reason I've heard of. I mean...we've all been there...you're watching the Yankees or Netlifx...when all of a sudden...your whole house goes dark...and you're back to the Stone Age.
But, usually, it's because of a storm or heat wave...not a damned bird punking us with a direct hit on the transformer! In fact, how do we know that the bird didn't do this on purpose? What if the bird is anti-human? What then?!
By the way, the bird is most likely an osprey (according to officials). Oh, and the police named the fish "Gilligan." This story just gets weirder and weirder. And while experts say it is not uncommon for an animal to affect a transformer or power line...having a fish do damage is extremely rare.
Listen...I'm not trying to overreact here...but if birds are declaring war on humans by dismantling our power grids...then game on. While I like birds...it's either us or them. And, sure, this insane diatribe might be going on because I accidentally took DayQuil and NiQuil together. So sue me.
In any event...a tale like this belongs on Ripley's Believe It Or Not...I mean...what are the odds?! Hell, if we're not declaring war on that bird then we should sign him up to pitch for the Yankees...his accuracy is incredible!
Yeah, the cold medicine is definitely kicking in! The previous paragraph was even crazy for me! And that's saying something!
