Hal Steinbrenner Must Sell The Yankees If He Doesn’t Care About Winning
Good morning, Sports fans! Davey Mac here back with another, action-packed Sports Report for ya! World Cup update! ESPN broadcasting changes! And more! But first…
…I’m going to speak very bluntly here…Hal Steinbrenner is a passionless dolt who does not seem like he even enjoys being the Yankees owner. And for that reason…he should seriously consider selling the team.

The Yankees are in the toilet. They’re in last place in the A.L. East and have totally underperformed. They made no significant trades at the deadline and just look awful. Why general manager Brian Cashman didn’t go out and get some offense is a mystery that both baffles and pisses off Yankee fans. It’s embarrassing.

Meanwhile, Hal Steinbrenner continues to bury his head in the sand and pretend that everything is just peachy. Well, guess what, Hal? Thins are NOT OK in Yankee Land.
The franchise is in a Groundhog Day-esque rut year in and year out; where they have decent seasons with a couple of stars and a bunch of nobodies…and then fail in the playoffs. And this year they more than likely won’t even make it to postseason baseball. This is NOT how George Steinbrenner handled things. This hideous season would have been completely unacceptable to George…and we would have seen heads rolling.

But not with Hal. The son is sadly not like the father in this case. I question Hal Steinbrenner’s heart…his commitment to the fans…his love of the Yankee traditions…and his willingness to win at all costs. In Hal…we have weak leadership from a guy who just doesn’t get it. GET SUPERSTARS…SPEND THE MONEY…AND MAKE THE YANKEES BETTER, HAL. Time is running out! And now on to the Scoreboard!

Let’s start with baseball. Where they were shut out by the Braves last night…5 to nothing. Atlanta starter Bryce Elder and the Brave bullpen only allowed ONE hit to the Yankees (D.J. LeMahieu). The Yankees now drop to 60 and 60…and with a game against the Braves tonight…the Yankees could leave Atlanta under .500 if they lose this evening. Oh, and they’re in last place. Awful. Fire Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone now.

The Mets lost to the Pirates…7 to 4. The Mets dropped to 54 and 66 for the year. Let’s be honest…the Mets are done, too….and Buck Showalter is probably getting fired.

The Phillies fell to the Blue Jays…2 to 1…though the Phils are still 65 and 55 for the season.

Football. After a long layoff…the Jets have activated running back Breece Hall after ten months off following an ACL injury. And this comes after it was announced that the Jets added Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook. So their running back room should be loaded.

Basketball. ESPN announced Monday that Doris Burke and Doc Rivers will join Mike Breen on ESPN and ABC’s top NBA broadcast crew. Burke has called the Finals on ESPN Radio since 2020 and has been an analyst on ESPN’s NBA games since 2017. Burke and Rivers replace Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson, who was laid off this year as part of job cuts by the network. Breen, Van Gundy, and Jackson called 15 Finals together.
