What the hay?! For the record…I’m not blaming Rizzo…he was out there playing as best he could…but he was struggling mightily at the plate…and now we know why…the guy was dealing with a concussion these last two months!
What is going on with the Yankees? How did this happen? Rizzo is a team leader and great player. He’s friends with the Aaron Judge and is one of the reasons the Captain returned to the team this year.
I don’t know if manager Aaron Boone was aware of Rizzo’s concussion issue…but, damn…this guy was playing for two whole months under this fog and no one realized it?! If that doesn’t speak VOLUMES about the Yankee organization right now…I don’t know what else does! Hey, Yankees…get your sh*t together! I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents! Scroll down for the Scoreboard!
As the NFL was back in action last night…albeit in preseason fashion…and the Jets lost to the Browns…21 to 16. Aaron Rodgers did NOT see any action…in case you we wondering…but Zach Wilson did…and he had a big 57-yard pass that Rodgers was complimentary of. Jets head coach Robert Saleh says he won’t be playing Rodgers in the first three preseason games of the year and will only consider if he plays in the last one.
Baseball. Make it two in a row for the Yankees as the Yanks beat the Astros last night…4 to 3. Giancarlo Stanton and Billy McKinney hit back-to-back homers in the game as the Yankees improve to 57 and 52 for the year. As bad as they’ve been…they’re just 2.5 games out of the third and final Wild Card spot in the A.L.
The Mets lost to the Royals…9 to 2. Carlos Carrasco receives the loss. The Mets drop to 50 and 58.
The Phillies took down the Marlins…4 to 2. J.T. Realmuto hit his 13th home run of the season for the Phillies…who improve to 59 and 50.
Basketball. Michael Jordan’s sale of a majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets to a group led by Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin has been finalized, it was announced Thursday. Jordan, whose run as majority owner ends after 13 years, will continue to hold a minority stake in the team. The purchase was made at an approximate $3 billion valuation; Jordan paid $275 million for a majority stake in the franchise in 2010.
Soccer. Tom Brady is now a minority owner of an English soccer team. The seven-time Super Bowl champion has become a minority owner of Birmingham City, which plays in the second-tier Championship division. Brady entered a partnership with the club’s new owners, Knighthead Capital Management.
The U.S. Women take on Sweden at 5 AM (Eastern) on Sunday in the World Cup. It’s the Knockout Round so winner advances and loser goes home!
