The Lunar Faire is Coming to Atlantic City
Every single month, the moon goes through its cycle. Throughout this monthly cycle, there’s one day where the moon goes completely dark, called the new moon, and one day where the moon is completely full and bright, called the full moon.
On these two days every month here in the state of New Jersey, a traveling night market called The Lunar Faire sets up its pop-up fair for locals to enjoy shopping, food trucks, and wonderfully witchy rituals. On this next upcoming full moon, August 1st, the Lunar Fair will be stopping in Atlantic City!
The Lunar Faire describes itself as “a witchy and weird social and shopping event.” The shopping comes in the form of vendors and crafters selling all different types of products. There are vendors selling hand-made jewelry, lanterns, clothing, stickers, paintings, and candles, among many other things.
There are also vendors who sell things that more align with the “witchy and weird” aspect. These people sell things like crystals, spell jars, incense, tarot readings, egg cleansings, and spirit guide readings. At the last Lunar Faire I personally attended, I bought a parasol, some new crystals, and a pair of earrings.
The social aspect of the fair is through the Merry Meet. The Merry Meet is an opportunity for faire goers to meet and make friends by dropping their names in a cauldron for somebody to pull out later. You can then connect at the Faire or sometime later, whatever everybody prefers. There are also all kinds of performances, like drag shows and fire dancers.
The Lunar Faire will be at Bader Field in Atlantic City on August 1st, with gates opening at 5 pm. Tickets cost $15 if you buy them online in advance and $20 if you buy them on the day off at the gate.
Children are welcome at the event, with kids 10 and under being free to enter. Pets are not allowed, however. And while there are plenty of food trucks and beverage stands at the fair, you are more than welcome to bring your own food and drinks. This is a rain-or-shine event, so I’ll see you on August 1st!
