WATCH New Trailer For Ridley Scott’s ‘Napoleon’ Starring Joaquin Phoenix

Iconic film-maker Ridley Scott is teaming up with Academy Award-winner Joaquin Phoenix once again for an epic tale of one of history’s most infamous people…Napoleon Bonaparte.

Here’s the description of the film from their official YouTube page: “Napoleon is a spectacle-filled action epic that details the checkered rise and fall of the iconic French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, played by Oscar®-winner Joaquin Phoenix…by legendary director Ridley Scott.”

Of course…Scott and Phoenix worked together on the amazing film Gladiator…which garnered Phoenix an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.   Scott himself got Oscar nods for Best Director and Best Picture.

In my opinion, Ridley Scott is one of the true masters of cinema and is, perhaps, a little under-rated.   Look at this guy’s resume: he made the original amazing Alien; the masterpiece Blade Runner with Harrison Ford; the suspenseful and excellent war movie Black Hawk Down; the gritty crime classic American Gangster with Russel Crowe and Denzel Washington, the wondrous and moving film The Martian with Matt Damon; and more.   What a career!

As for Joaquin Phoenix, he’s had an absolutely stellar career since being in Gladiator…and most recently…won the Oscar for Best Actor for his transcendent performance in Joker.   The guys has simply been incredible in pretty much everything he’s ever done.   I think this movie is gonna be a winner.   Between Scott and Phoenix and the fascinating subject matter of Napoleon Bonaparte…this has “hit” written all over it!   The flick comes out on Thanksgiving, so I guess we’ll see then!
