Rob Halford and other rock artists are showing their support for Greta Van Fleet's Josh Kiszka, who came out yesterday (June 20) via Instagram.
As previously reported, the Greta Van Fleet singer shared his concern over various anti-LGBTQ laws being passed in a number of states. He then said, "These issues are especially close to my heart as I’ve been in a loving, same-sex relationship with my partner for the past 8 years. Those close to me are well aware, but it’s important to me to share publicly."
The comment section of Kiszka's post has since been filled with supportive messages. Notably, Halford wrote, "I love you Josh," along with a devil horn hand emoji and the clapping emoji.
Meanwhile, Dirty Honey wrote, "We couldn’t support you MORE!" and The Struts shared alternating celebration hands and black heart emojis.
The Metal God, of course, famously came out on MTV in 1998. In June 2021, Halford looked back on that moment saying, "It was beautiful. It was very unplanned. It was one of those things where I'm at MTV in New York, I'm talking about a project that I was working on called TWO, with myself and John 5, the amazing guitar player. I was doing the rounds in New York City and ended up at MTV talking about this project. And in the casual course of the conversation, we were talking about the overall music, and the direction, and the feelings. And I said something to the effect of, 'Well, speaking as a gay man… blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.' And then I heard the producer's clipboard bounce on the floor. It was one of those gay sharp intakes of breath, 'Oh my God! He's come out.'"
