Local Vibes

Many of us seek happiness in our lives. With a pinch of positive relationships, a dash of fulfilling work, a sprinkle of gratitude, a generous serving of physical and mental well-being, a splash of personal goals, a handful of leisure and enjoyment, and a sprinkle of kindness. The experiences we encounter daily all play a significant role in shaping our happiness levels.

Scholaroo, an online scholarship discovery platform, identified the happiest states in the U.S. They compared all 50 states across seven key categories. They include personal finance, leisure activities, mental health, and physical health. Employment, personal relationships, and social policies. They then evaluated those categories using 54 relevant metrics with each being graded on a 100-point scale.

New Jersey was named one of the happiest states in the U.S.

The site named New Jersey as one of the happiest states in America. According to this study, it’s the fourth happiest state in the country.  It ranked above states like New York (number 5) and Maryland (number 6). Also, found in the study is that New Jersey has one of the lowest quit rates when it comes to jobs. New Jersey holds one of the top spots for having the most LGBTQI+ youth protection rights in the U.S., shown in the study.

Highlights

The latest study revealed that people living in the Northeast region of the United States are the happiest in the entire country. What’s even more impressive is that every single state in the Northeast made it to the top 20 list of the happiest states in America. It seems like there’s something special about that corner of the country that brings so much happiness to its residents.

On the other hand, the majority of southern states found themselves at the lower end of the happiness spectrum. According to the study, these states tend to have higher rates of depression, longer working hours per week, and higher obesity rates than other regions in the country.

4 New Jersey Cities Make Best Party Cities in the US List

New Jersey knows how to get down. According to Bonus Finder, four New Jersey cities have been ranked as some of the “best party cities in the United States.”

The casino review site compiled the list of United States cities based on several attributes the city had to have. Bonus Finder looked at the following criteria:

  • Music Events
  • Bars
  • Nightclubs
  • Late Night Food Venues
  • Hotels
  • Casinos
  • Stripclubs

The site even had your pockets in mind when determining where is the best place to go for a great night out. Below are some factors that Bonus Finder considered in their ranking:

  • Average Price of a Drink
  • Average Price of a Hotel Room
  • Average Taxi Cost from the Airport to the City Center

Lastly, (and maybe most importantly, depending on who you ask), the site also considered which clubs and events had the latest “last call at the bar.”

The site reviewed “the number of bars, hotels, nightclubs, casinos, stripclubs, and late night food venues were calculated per 10,000 people. Each city has a normalized score out of 10 on each of the factors, before taking an average total normalized score across each of these scores to reach our final overall score out of 10.”

Take a look at the three New Jersey cities that made the top 20 of their list and their final scores below:
