Duran Duran may end up turning the whole idea of a “holiday album” on its head. No, they’re not thinking of doing a Christmas LP. Instead, the band is thinking about the potential release of a Halloween album.

Nick Rhodes touched on this idea in a new interview with Record Collector (h/t Music-News.com.) The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band performed a Halloween-themed show in Las Vegas on Halloween 2022. The show is the origin of this interesting idea.

Rhodes said, “We had so much fun doing that Vegas show. I love the idea of a Duran Duran Halloween album, as it’s one of those crazy ideas where people go, ‘Why would you do that?’ Well, it’s precisely because it’s so different from anything else we’ve done.”

Per Setlist.fm, Duran Duran played a number of covers during special Halloween 2022 show. Among the covers was the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black,” Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Spellbound” and Rick James’ “Super Freak.”

This potential Halloween album would follow the release of Duran Duran’s 2021 album Future Past. The album was well-received by fans and critics, alike. The band performed 48 shows from August 2022 to September 2023 in support of the LP.
