Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls Coming To Long Branch!
You can never have enough lobster places or food trucks on the Jersey Shore! Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls will be opening in Pier Village this Spring! Mason’s was established in 2014 by owner, Dan Beck, a lobster aficionado for over two decades. Dan was a buyer in the restaurant business and made regular visits to Maine to visit lifelong lobstermen. From all those visits, Dan developed a deep respect for the values and traditions of this old school trade as well as the waters of Maine. Dan opened his first restaurant in Annapolis, Maryland nine years ago, and now has a total of 30 locations if you include the addition of the Long Branch restaurant. Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is the closest location to New Jersey.
According to their website, the lobsters are hauled right from the seas of Maine, and are immediately brought to a facility in Saco, Maine, where they are cooked simply and modestly and prepared according to tradition. No bells, no whistles, and no pretension. Just lemon, butter, and mayo.
During the pandemic, Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls created an e-commerce site so lobster lovers wouldn’t miss out on eating fresh lobster rolls. Lobster roll kits start at $119 for four lobster rolls and $259 for a 12 pack. If you don’t live near the Jersey Shore, or near any of Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls restaurants, this might be your best option, unless you don’t mind road trippin’ it to try one of six lobster roll options, along with soups, chowders, all kinds of yummy sides, salads, desserts, and beverages.
Back in 2017, Pier Village housed a place called Luke’s Lobster that didn’t last very long. Elsewhere in Long Branch, “The Pit” on Montgomery Avenue closed back in October of 2022. Good news, they will re-open on May 25, 2023 with classic New England lobster rolls with their “Bangin’ Mayo.” The Pit has an outdoor Tiki bar and live entertainment every Thursday and Sunday. The Pit will likely draw a different crowd than those who dine at the Pier Village waterfront. There’s room for everybody in Long Branch.
