As reported by the RAT’s Jimmy Steal a few weeks ago, the Jackson roller skating rink is back! After it was thought to be another casualty of the post-lockdown business struggles…the venue has been purchased by a roller rink corporation and now it is officially OPEN for business!
The new name of the place is United Skates Jackson (it was previously known as the Jackson Skating Center) and it looks pretty cool! Check out the video!
The facility first opened in 1978 and has had quite the run. As a local guy myself, we used to go to the Jackson roller rink all the time for birthday parties. In the ’80’s if you were a kid…and you wanted a big-time party to impress your friends…you had one of three parties to choose from: 1.) The Roller Skating Party 2.) The Bowling Alley Party 3.) The Pool Party (for kids whose birthdays were in the Summer).

The new rink will feature a modern arcade, updated murals which glow in the dark, new lighting, and an upgraded sound system. And while it seemed that in 2022 the doors would sadly close for good, the building bounced back and looks like a great new place to take the kids! Skating in Jackson is BACK, baby! YES!
