Get Well Soon Shorty Long!
One of the most beloved and talented performers at the Jersey Shore needs our prayers and well wishes!
His name is Ricky Tisch, but you know him as the pint sized dynamo, Shorty, of the legendary Jersey Shore Band, Shorty Long and the Jersey Horns. Well, as it turns out Rick had a bad go of it this past week and was seriously injured on Wednesday.
So what happened?
The story goes, Rick was home, when a bolt on the performer’s wheelchair loosened up and send him out and onto the ground where he sustained some pretty serious injuries. Among Shorty’s injuries are a broken arm and several ribs! No joke for sure! According to the Shorty Long Facebook page, Ricky is recovering at home.
The show must go on!
The story gets even more interesting since there were two weekend gigs scheduled for the band, one at Artie’s Bar and Grill in Frenchtown, which was cancelled, and the other at the Lighthouse Tavern on route 9 in Waretown. Well, the team really stepped up as the band said “the show must go on”, and proceeded to play the gig without their fearless leader! Now, if you’ve ever seen Shorty Long and the Jersey Horns, you know, they have quite a large and professional outfit. I’m sure they did just fine and the crowd was pumped. However, there must have been a bit of sadness in the room, with out sweet old Shorty behind the keys and the mic.
What’s next ?
Meanwhile, there are more gigs for the band in the very near future! In fact, this weekend!! According to their Facebook page, the band is scheduled to play at the 89 North Music Venue in Patchogie, Long Island this Friday. Then the band will be at Otts Township in Sewell on Saturday. Moreover, the man himself is scheduled to be back with the band! Social media is abuzz with the news that Shorty will be playing left handed! What a one of a kind performer! Get well soon kid, and knock em dead! Oh and be careful in that firetruck, I’ve seen you get a little wild out there too!
