Get ready to roll! The former Jackson Township Roller Skating Rink will be reopening soon!

The famed Ocean County rink will be reopening under a new name. United Skates Of America Inc. will be the new rolling out the fun starting this spring.

According to their website, https://www.unitedskates.com/jackson , the franchise looks to be in the process of a major cosmetic refurbishing of the iconic rink at 2270 County Line Road.

The rink, which first opened during the Roller Disco craze in 1978, was thought to have closed forever back in October.

Thoughts were it would become just another victim of Jackson's population explosion. However, instead it is alive and will be opening it's doors to a whole new generation of would be roller masters!  The rink's former owners actually still own a rink here in New Jersey. Roller Magic runs the South Amboy Arena rink off of Route 9, and online at  https://www.loc8nearme.com/new-jersey/south-amboy/south-amboy-arena-rollermagic/7268508/

Meanwhile, over it's 44 year history, the Jackson Roller Skating Rink has hosted thousands of birthday parties, open skating sessions, and even roller derbies! Now it's all coming back! Well, maybe not the roller derby.

As for the new owners, United Skates of America, their website states that they will have a fully stocked Roller Cafe full of family favorites, state-of-the-art sound systems, live DJs, and a huge arcade with awesome prizes. Furthermore, they say the revitalized rink will be THE #1 place in Jackson for kids’ birthday parties, STEM Field Trips, fundraisers for  schools and groups, exercise, and family fun for all.

Lastly, the site goes on to say that their mission is to make dreams come true by providing the perfect environment for people of all ages, organizations, schools, clubs and groups to have incredible parties for all types of events. They will be offering something they are calling the Super Pass. For 18 dollars each, a child or adult gets admission to a skating session, as well as 20 credits in their new arcade. United Skates also will be offering food at their Roller Cafe, complete with pizza, nachos, pretzels and more.

We will check back in with a grand opening date, but for now, get ready to roll, cause Jackson Township is skating again!
